Rising Sixth Grade Registration
Orchestra is a class that happens during the school day. The class will be a part of your child's schedule.
Being in a performing arts class is not required, but most children will choose one.
Nearly 85% of the sixth grade student population at Crews chose one of the three performing arts programs in 2017.
33% of the entire school population is enrolled in the Crews Middle School Orchestra Program.
If your child is at all interested in playing an instrument in orchestra, he/she should join this year.
Music Selection Process
Your children had the opportunity to hear the three performing arts programs on March 26th (Brookwood ES) and March 27th (Craig ES).
All fifth grade students will also visit each of our classrooms for mini presentations on these days during which they will get to meet the teachers and learn more about the orchestra program
Music selection forms will be sent home with your child these days. That form is also attached at the bottom of this page as well.
We will begin collecting forms on Thursday, March 28th.
There are only a limited number of spaces, so turn your forms in early.
Forms are absolutely due by Friday, August 12th and should be turned into your child's 5th grade teacher.
More info to come once class begins:
If choosing to be in orchestra, your child does not have to know which instrument they want to play. We will take care of final instrument selection during the first days of class.
Please DO NOT rent or buy an instrument yet! We need to review important information with you prior to you acquiring an instrument for your child.
